I love to create. I generally will have some kind of creative project going on at all times.
Right now I am working on a quilt. I have actually just about finished the quilt part. I need to sandwich the quilt, batting and back of the quilt and then figure out a way to sew it all together. This is where the internet comes in. I start watching countless youtube videos to get ideas about how to do something. I am still fairly confused about how I want to quilt the quilt together (or even how to say that properly) I think I want to machine quilt it. I don't really know how to. So that is my upcoming task. But here is a picture of the Quilt.
I bought the most beautiful flannel backing which i was so happy to find at Joanne's Fabrics. It has it's own crazy pattern but I love how it contrasts with the quilt. I also love how soft the flannel is. I do think that the quilting part of this process will be tedious and not in an enjoyable way. But I can visualize how the quilt will look and feel and I am motivated to get there. Here is a picture of the Quilt with the flannel backing next to it. I have two more squares to sew on it.
And here is a close up of the flannel
Unfortunately life constantly gets in the way of my creative time. This weekend the house needs to be cleaned. I can not focus on a single project in the chaos of mess. As a result I can become immobilized by it. Firstly, I can not keep up with my 7 year old son who enjoys distruction and with destruction comes mess. Also our dining room table becomes a landing pad for every one of his toys through out the day. Then there are all his school papers that come home daily. That is a psychological brain teaser- should i save it or throw it out? I shrink under that kind of question. I practice throwing things out on a daily basis but when it comes to things that my son makes I am at a loss... So whatever i have picked up to contemplate ditching, I stare at it and it just ends up back on the table. A week later the table is covered. Sigh....
The next large and looming project is my son's 8th birthday party. It will be Harry Potter themed. It means that I will be creating and sewing up about 15-18 robes. I will be making wands, and coming up with fun projects for the kids to do. Not to mention creating a cake as well as creating a really fun invitation. This involves a lot of internet research well beforehand. I get excited thinking about it which is great news because throwing a party the way I like to is A LOT of work. But it can be so worth it. In the middle of it I may become very crabby though and may need reminding of why i do it in the first place. This is usually my husband's job.
I will blog on past parties I have thrown; Star Wars, Angry Birds and a couple Halloween parties. I hope that I can pass on ideas to other like minded party throwers.
So I humbly welcome you to this blog. :-)
